Work history

Sr. UX designer, Caradigm

July 2011 to present, Bellevue, WA

Caradigm is a company that builds software for the healthcare industry. In this role I worked along the UX spectrum. Working with our UX director, SME’s, and project managers to gather requirements, put together plan and take products from sketch to final design.

User research, storyboarding, wireframing, prototyping, designing hi-fidelity comps, providing and managing interaction guidelines and visual design specs. At Caradigm, to a large degree, wireframes were supplanted by hi-fi mocks. It was perceived the visual design was mature enough to allow designers to skip wireframes to speed-up the design process.

Collaboration and review

The UX team at Caradigm participated in weekly critique meetings. This gave all the designers the opportunity to present work for review. It also served as way to help ensure constancy across products.

Design leadership

Participate and lead visual design strategies and drive consistency. Work with team members to ensure consistent application of ux patterns. Provided art direction, informing and answering questions about using appropriate visual styles, and interaction patterns, keeping Caradigm's suite of products consistent for optimal usability.

Products I worked on while at Caradigm
  • Visual design and style guide for Caradigm products
  • Care Management
  • Risk Stratification
  • Quality Improvement
  • Ward Round (mobile)
  • Nurse Round (mobile)
  • Home Visit (mobile)

Freelancer, Refuel Design (my freelance business)

November 2001 to present

I started freelancing as soon as I graduated from college. As a freelance designer I have the opportunity to work many different types of projects: Mobile app design, responsive website design, marketing collateral, illustrations, logo design and brand building.

Graphic designer (all purpose) with IEB design team, Microsoft

February 2010 to February 2011, Redmond, WA

While working on contract with the IEB design team at Microsoft, my responsibilities ranged from; package design, print design, icon illustration, storyboarding, wireframing, and web design.

UX designer, Microsoft: mobile and maps

October 2008 to October 2009, Bellevue, WA

While at Microsoft I was fortunate to work with a few teams, creating wireframes for MSN mobile experiences and visual design for various ‘Maps’ designs. While working with these teams I developed a reputation for having a keen eye for visual design and identifying inconsistent interaction patterns. I participated in user research and usability studies.

Visual designer, Ramp Group Technologies

August 2007 to October 2008, Bellevue, WA

At Ramp, I worked closely with the Senior User Experience Designers and Developers, as well as the creative director to create user experiences for applications, and websites, 'slide-ware', contributing in pitches and proposals.
